Our Creator designed us with minds filled with meditation that makes us spiritually, physically, and emotionally healthy. Consequently, the evil one appealed to Eve’s mind in an attempt to inject unhealthy meditation into her. Regrettably, both Eve and Adam succumbed to the type of thoughts detrimental to their health. Since then, the human race has practiced extremely unhealthy meditation that led the human race from the Lord and into lots of suffering. But, there is some really great news! …

In 2oo3, Delores and I decided to explore the possibility of returning to Japan as pastors of Tsukuba International Christian Assembly in Tsukba, Japan. We flew to Tokyo and the missionary picked us up in his vehicle and we drove two or three hours to Tsukuba. We spent three weeks there preaching every Sunday and visiting the people of this international congregation. At the end of three weeks we told the current pastor that we would be willing to move to Japan in December 2003. …
As I recently read Revelation 4:1, I recognized an application of this verse to our everyday lives I had previously missed.
“A door standing open in heaven” awaited John‘s spirit. However, there’s a door standing open in heaven for us right now. This door is called Holy Scripture. As we read God’s Word it opens to us insights into the Lord and his ways that the human mind can never conceive. Therefore, if we want to know the Lord and understand his Word and ways we must live in the Scriptures.
The Lord shows us how to practice extremely healthy meditation, meditation that equips earthlings to live victoriously in a world that attempts to destroy our relationship with Jesus. We choose to meditate in the Word when everything around us attempts to distracts from the Word of God. Purposefully “set your mind on things above not on earthly things” (Colossians 3:2). You will live on earth, but have a heart and mind-set on Father, Son and Holy Spirit who invite us to share their victory over Satan, sin and the world!

A phrase from 1 Thessalonians 2:13 concisely describes the result of consistently reading the Holy Scriptures, the Bible. “The word of God…is at work in you who believe,” 1 Thessalonians 2:13. The Bible is unlike any book ever written because it originated in the Creator of the universe who selected particular humans to record his thoughts. Consequently, as we read the Bible, God works his will and ways into our hearts. …

Delores and I always wanted to serve as missionaries. We planned on going to the mission field early in our career, but that didn’t work out. So, after pastoring eighteen years, we decided to move to Singapore, Southeast Asia. On the other hand, the missions department had earlier turned down our application to serve as missionaries because of my legal blindness. Well, we decided that we had to go to the mission field because we were in our early 40’s. We couldn’t wait any longer. …

As a young man I was more than willing to endure tough times and live on very little resources. I just never required lots of stuff or lots of money. But this attitude became a road block to accomplishing God’s will for our ministry. Consequently, God helped me become willing to abound through his super human provision. …

I was pastoring my first small church in central Texas. My job at a manufacturing company provided Dee and me enough money to make it as we survived in our trailer house that was seven and a half feet inside and about twenty feet long. We were recent college graduates and accepted our first pastorate as a God-given opportunity. But things became worse as my vision declined and the fatigue in my eye muscles increased. Additionally, I had never heard of hypo-hypoglycemia or low blood sugar, but looking back I realize that I had dealt with that situation a long time. Low blood sugar causes your energy level to fluctuate drastically. By the end of my eight-hour work day I always had to lay down for a while until Delores brought me some peanut butter and crackers. This snack would revive me enough to make it to supper. …
