Two thousand years ago God’s people felt unblessed. Sure, they repeatedly read the promises God pronounced upon their ancestors Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but where were the blessings? A foreign government manipulated their lives and ruthlessly repressed all yearnings for independence. Poverty afflicted almost everyone and religious leaders used their influence for self-gratification. There was this promise given by God that “All these blessings will overtake you,” Deuteronomy 28:2 (NIV 1978). No one could change a word of this promise yet everybody felt unblessed.
What God predicts always happens. “What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do,” Isaiah 46:11. So, God’s irresistible blessing was in the process of overtaking his people.
On what we call Christmas morning, “God sent his Son,” Galatians 4:4. The promised Blessing arrived!
Dear Christian friends, God’s blessings always overtake people willing to overlook unfelt blessing. Cling tightly to the Source of every good and perfect gift (James 1:17). “Those who hope in me will not be disappointed,” Isaiah 49:23. You are attached to the Blessed One so Jesus’ blessings become your blessings. When you don’t feel blessed, don’t worry about it. When you don’t look blessed, don’t worry about it. When you don’t know what to do in life, trust the Infinite One who knows exactly what to do.
“Patience is waiting for God to act.”
