Dealing with Lions

You probably haven’t dealt with many lions recently.  We Americans rarely encounter lions on the city streets or in the back yard.

On the other hand, every one of us must constantly deal with a lion called Satan.  Although he doesn’t inhabit a physical body, he unceasingly prowls about in the physical world. “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour,” 1 Peter 5:8.  He is an invisible spirit who exerts immeasurable harmful influence in the physical world.

Notice one important difference between four-footed lions and this Satan-lion.  Animal lions kill merely for the purpose of surviving.  The Satan-lion kills because he’s hateful, mean and wicked.

Whether physical or spiritual, we effectively deal with lions in the same way; we remain self-controlled and alert.

When facing a threatening lion, you better remain undistracted.  Refuse to let your attention wander.  Pay no attention if an ostrich runs by or a distant elephant trumpet.  Self-control enables you to glue your attention on the enemy at hand.

Christian friend, don’t let bitterness against people turn your attention from the Satan-lion.  Reject worldly pleasures that shout for your attention.  Say “No” to discouragement and anxiety.  “God has given us a spirit of self-control” (2 Timothy 1:7) which equips us with the emotional and mental power to keep focused on our real enemy—the Satan-lion.

We keep ourselves alert through private fellowship with the Lord’s Spirit and interaction with Jesus’ earthly body.

After reading this article, please don’t enlist as a circus lion trainer.  Let’s content ourselves to deal with the lion at hand, and we’ll be all right!

God bless. The key word here is “like”,this word has 2 at least 2meanings. 1 is as a copy of something.the other my brother is “pretending to as.is the enemy a copy o a lion or is he pretending to be a lion? remember that Jesus has taken away his ability here on earth,so iwould rather think of him as the lion of the wizard of oz and not the mighty simba, is he strong and of power?, yes but my Savior and Redeemer has all the power!!!! To almighty Elohim be praise
