God’s presence is the source of our joy. Singing, dancing, playing musical instruments are expression of sincere enthusiasm for God’s nearness, “I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God,” Psalm 43:4. “David was dancing before the Lord with all his might,” 2 Samuel 6:14.
Delight is more permanent than joy and not dependent on sudden excitement. We retain joy without depending upon circumstances. We should draw joy from our time with the Lord; surrounding ourselves with his Word and presence.
Did you know that we delight the Lord? When we focus on Him for our delight, our source of joy, he fulfills His own purposes through us. We bring Him delight by delighting in Him!
“I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence,” Proverbs 8:30.
“The Lord…delights in those whose ways are blameless” Proverbs 11:20.
“The Lord…delights in people who are trustworthy,” Proverbs 12:22.
“The prayer of the upright pleases [the Lord],” Proverbs 15:8.
