Deuteronomy chapter six introduces to us the greatest conversation piece in the world. Greatest, not in massiveness, but, greatest in importance to everything that happens in our lives.
“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts…
- Talk about them when you sit at home and
- when you walk along the road,
- when you lie down and
- when you get up,” Deuteronomy 6:6-7.
Try it! Dee and I often share during mealtime about what we read in the Word that morning. Long drives are a great time to mention the blessing the Word gave you. Don’t argue about it; don’t use statements like, “That’s wrong.” Or, “I don’t see it that way.” Talk about the Word not your opinion. Remember, you are to edify the person with whom you are sharing.
Ask the Lord to impress Deuteronomy 6:6-7 on your thoughts and speaking about the Word will become natural and not forced. Everyone will experience a new joy that flows from the heart of Jesus as we speak about his Word!
Good word! There is wisdom in a multitude of counsel.
James, I am employing your thoughts! From now on Pastor’s Council at Leander AG will begin with discussions like yours & Dee’s. We will talk about what God has shown us in devotions over the previous week. Thanks for spurring me on! Your friend Bren
