The title of the Bible book called Lamentations discourages interest in these words written by Jeremiah. Therefore, let me share with you some absolutely fabulous verses in chapter three. Many of these are worth memorizing!
- Verses 21-23: “Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
- Verse 24: “I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”
- Verse 25: “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him.”
- Verse 26: “It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
- Verses 31-33: “For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone.”
- Verse 40: “Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.”
- Verses 56-58: “You heard my plea: ‘Do not close your ears to my cry for relief.’ You came near when I called you, and you said, ‘Do not fear.’ You, Lord, took up my case; you redeemed my life.”

I didn’t realize there were so many good verses in Lamentations. I need to go back and re-read the book! Thank you for bringing this out to us. Of course the WHOLE Bible is inspired and wonderful, but sometimes we do avoid certain books that seem to be negative (Lamentations)…. This blog reminds us to read all the Bible for the wonderful truths that are there!
I felt led to look at Lamentations today. This article helped me find the hope He has given us.
