At age six I received Jesus as my Savior during a Sunday morning service at the church my parents attended. Then, for some unexplainable reason, when only twelve years old I decided to quit praying. My downfall began and for the next five years I had nothing to do with the Lord. I never read his Word, never talked to him and never thought about him. Sin became common and normal for me.
At the end of my junior year in high school I surrendered myself to Jesus once again and his Spirit began working in me. Three months later I experienced the event the book of Acts calls “the baptism into the Holy Spirit.” Everything changed dramatically. My hunger for God’s Word, fellowship with other people who loved Jesus and hatred of sin dominated me.
Jesus sent each of us to earth, but he can only fulfill his purposes for us and give us a fulfilling satisfying life if we stay in contact with him. Our downfall begins when we walk away from Jesus and no longer invite him to be a part of our lives. Our uprising begins at the moment we ask Jesus to forgive our sin, become our Lord and master and consistently invite him to be with us. Involving Jesus in everything we do guarantees that we will succeed in all we attempt.
