The Word of God and Human Health

Spiritual HealthThe book of Proverbs repeatedly points out the relationship between the Word of God and human health.   One dictionary defines health as: “Physical or mental soundness; freedom from disease or pain.”  The following verses from Proverbs point out the good effect of God’s Word on both our physical and mental health.

  • “Whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm,” Proverbs 1:33.
  • “They will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity,” Proverbs 3:2.
  • “This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones,” Proverbs 3:8.
  • “Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many,” Proverbs 4:10.
  • “My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words.  Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body,” Proverbs 4:20-22.
  • “The fear of the Lord adds length to life,” Proverbs 10:27.
  • “Good news gives health to the bones,” Proverbs 15:30.

May we maintain our zeal for reading God’s Book that lends health to us physically, mentally and emotionally!

  1. Thank you for your posting on The Word of God and Human Health. We all need to be reminded of these powerful scriptures. I plan to use these scriptures to meditate on today. thank you!

  2. James, what a blessing to read these Words from God! Especially for me today, as I suffer much physical pain, and have for over 40 years. Most people don’t know that about me, I guess I look very healthy! Anyway, I thank you for your faithfulness in this work The Lord has called you to do. This is very much needed!

We just returned from Japan last week, God is doing wonderful things there. Even though I am quite limited physically, I am thankful for the ministry of prayer.

    God bless you richly!

    Jim
